Very good:
belated questions to distract me from friday night's boredom, which also remind me that there are still a few I've wanted to reply to for weeks or even months.

Ehem.
So.

From Stan, via email:
Why have you written your entire journal and website in English? You're German...

To be honest, I don't really understand that myself. I started to journal in English, even in my paper journals, after 3 months of being an exchange student in the US. I went through the freaky experience of nearly forgetting my native language because I was surrounded by nothing but English. I think it was also the first time I started to really use my journal, so it's a habit, and it now feels strange to write in German even when I don't use English in real life anymore.
Also, it has the advantage that a whole lot more people on the internet use English, so the potential audience is larger... I haven't yet found German journals that I really liked, so I prefer the English-speaking lj community. And there's something about the English language that makes it easier to write about personal things, I write differently and about different things when I write in German.
And it's good practice when I hardly get to speak English. Even when noone ever corrects me.

then, from [livejournal.com profile] lacrimosa:
What do you usually eat for breakfast?
Anything I can grab and consume while I run to the bus stop. Since 8th grade, no matter how early I get up, I've never managed to find the time to sit down in peace and have a sensible breakfast. (Yes, I know, that's not healthy...) So it's usually a slice of bread with jelly or cheese or salami (the heavy German bread that really fills you up), or English muffins with peanut butter, and an apple or banana or joghurt that I throw into my backpack to eat later. Then, at university, I have time to sit down and have my first coffee or tea. But people at the bus stop would probably be surprised to see me without food in the morning :)

What are you wearing right now? Especially - what sort of shoes?
No shoes at all, just socks, as I just kicked off my Birkenstocks that I always wear at home. The rest: blue jeans, tight blue t-shirt, red cardigan because it's starting to get cold.

You've travelled a bit in the USA, if I remember correctly. Tell me a few of the most interesting and most ugly things that you noticed here...what was your favorite state? Least favorite?
Ha! Now there's an idea for an entry, and something to do for tonight :)

(Did I forget anything else? Or does anyone feel like asking me anything to distract me from my boredom?)

If you ever start journalling in German, I'd love to read.

I second that, although my vocabulary mostly includes swear words and barnyard animals.
