In a certain age group, narrow-minded people who can't get rid of their nostalgic memories seems to be more truth than prejudice. You know, I moved here without any prejudices to speak of and will leave with quite a few. It will take a couple of generations for this country to really grow together again. The Nazi thing is improving though, at least there aren't as many on the streets anymore who openly display their political orientation with their clothes, hair styles and shoes. When I first moved here, it was scary - I was horrified to realize that I was secretly happy to have light hair and skin.
I remember when I was just a child (in age) I had a German Nanny for a while. She was such a Monster ! (no reflection on you or yours !). She wore these hideous wooden clogs and I could hear her comin' from the other end of the house, but I could never get away ! ha ha ha . . . LOLove . . .
"your foreign minister married a former intern of his" :O.
And about Biene Maya, let's put it this way: only knowing that "Neverending story" was also made in Germany could redeem the local entertainment industry from the shame of making such silly cartoon, IMHO.
Don't insult Biene Maja in front of me ever again!
I admit I haven't seen it since I was little but I loved it then. I can still sing the Titellied, and will not hesitate to do so if you dare to call her silly again. Now that's a threat.
