The wedding is getting closer and even though I have a few ideas concerning my present for them, I'm still not 100% content with any of them. I would like to make something instead of buy them something because they seem to have pretty much everything. Also, they probably already have a more expensive version of anything I could ever afford, and I think something self-made is more personal and thus much nicer. I might make them a calendar (and since I'll be taking pictures, I can leave a few months blank and later stick in the best shots) and/or a little board game. I once made one for my father out of wood and leather and he loved it.

But now I remembered my wonderful friends list! All those creative brains who are hopefully very drawn to a little poll and might be much more inspired than me! After all, several of you got married recently...

At a shower, I got two frames from one relative, but she made them really nice by putting wedding photos from all of Joe's siblings in one and in the other, some photos from when he was little (which are somewhat rare) up through recent times. Everyone oohed and ahhed over it. Really simple, but it showed that thought and care went into the gift.

I usually prefer thought and care over lots of money when I give or receive presents. I've now made them a board game though because I didn't find enough pictures of him.

This is the best wedding gift we received: My mom's nurse went to my mom and Ali's mom and found out all the important dates we would need to remember (birthdays, anniversaries, etc). She printed cute little cards with a description of the occasion. Then she made a cute little wooden box card holder thing that the cards all slide into with a window cut out for the cards to peek through (heart-shaped, but any shape would do). The cards all go inside in date order. It is so great because we always know what the next date we have to remember is! She also included blank cards for us to print up any other dates we want to remember. When she gave us the box, the date on top was our own wedding date. :)

I will email you a picture of it. (I would post it here but my server is acting up)

That is a really great idea! I ended up building them a board game but I'll keep your idea in mind for the next occasion where I need a cool present :)

added you...

hi,

sounds silly, but my grandfather made me a very cool key holder for by my door to hang my keys when i come in. Very useful, maybe you could incorporate that into something more personal, with picture or new family name?
