Oh, and could somebody please tell me that it was a good idea to agree to start teaching Spanish to a group of 10 to 14 people? If all goes well, I'll start in November. I'm not nervous (yet?) but I've never been particularly sure of my pedagogic value. My potential employers said the only major problem they've had were teachers who were afraid of speaking in front of groups. That has never been a problem for me - I'm more worried that I might not be patient enough with people who just don't get it. But at least they'll all pay to be there and thus hopefully be interested in learning. And I still have a month to practice looking old and respectable so that a group of people over forty (at least that's who my potential employers hope to attract) will be adequately impressed. Then again, I've been told that as soon as I open my mouth, I appear significantly older than I look. And I'll also have the not-so-secret weapon/advantage of fluent Spanish ;)
