Fun.
More fun.
Format C:.
On Saturday morning, I checked my email. I didn't receive anything suspicious, much less open anything strange. I did not download anything, and simply turned off my computer again. It didn't crash, it just quietly shut itself down the way it was supposed to.
A while later, I turned it back on and -- Windows was gone.
After some playing around with boot disks, I discovered that there was still a C:\Windows directory, but that it was somehow broken and could not be accessed.
WHY?!
So I ended up formatting c:, and for some reason, it still says that 290 Kb are in lost sectors or something. Whatever that may mean - is my hard drive broken? Why?
And now that I hoped that after last month's problems, Windows might now work for a few months, here I am reinstalling everything yet again.
At least I haven't lost any important data, but the thought that this seems to have happened entirely out of the blue is highly unpleasant.
So much about relaxing weekends.
